WILSON — The good part about the tornado that touched down Saturday at Vinson Bynum Elementary School is that only three people were injured mildly. Seven classrooms were damaged, but administrators have found a way around the problem and -- sorry, kids -- school will start on time Monday morning.
The tornado was part of a fierce but relatively brief band of storms that traveled across the state Saturday morning. About 300 adults were attending a meeting of The Order of the Eastern Star when the tornado arrived.
It tore the roof off the cafeteria, damaged classrooms and cars in the school parking lot.
The students who normally occupy those classrooms will find trailers are ready for them Monday morning.
