Princeton Families Return Home After Chemical Spill

PRINCETON — Fifty Princeton families went home Thursdayafter having been evacuated from their houses Wednesday morning. A dumptruck carrying a large quantity of highly explosive material overturnednearHighway 70 in Johnston County.

Emergency crews evacuated a three-quarter square mile area while theyrighted the truck and cleaned up the spill.

No one was hurt. The truck driver has been charged with failure to obeya stop sign and driving without a valid commercial license. The truck washeaded for a rock quarry.
