PRINCETON — Fifty Princeton families went home Thursday after having been evacuated from their houses Wednesday morning. A dump truck carrying a large quantity of highly explosive material overturned near Highway 70 in Johnston County.
Emergency crews evacuated a three-quarter square mile area while they righted the truck and cleaned up the spill.
No one was hurt. The truck driver has been charged with failure to obey a stop sign and driving without a valid commercial license. The truck was headed for a rock quarry.
