FAYETTEVILLE — The standoff between Kelly-SpringfieldTire and its striking Fayetteville workers went to a Federal courtWednesday.

The tire company had asked a judge to put an end to the strike, arguingthat the United Steel Workers of American had violated a collectivebargaining agreement.

The judge rejected that request, allowing the 2,400 workers to continuepicketing. Workers began picketing in shifts after walking off the job atnoon Tuesday.

The company plans to argue its case again at a court hearing nextmonth.
