Bulls Fan Beaned by Blue Rocks Pitcher

— Leaders of the Carolina Baseball League are trying to determine how to punish a pitcher from the Wilmington Blue Rocks. He's accused of throwing a ball at a fan at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park last Sunday.

The ball struck a 30-year-old man in the face. He was taken to a hospital and treated.

League leaders say the incident started with a group of fans taunted the Wilmington team in the game's late innings. In the ninth, they say the pitcher stepped out of the dugout and hurled the ball into the stands.
