Father Grateful to Get Baby Back

— Police in Durham are looking for a man who stole a car with a baby inside. The car was found an hour later, its motor still running, with the child still inside -- unharmed.

Six-month-old Shawn Epps' adventure began when his father left the family car running when he stopped to use a pay phone at a convenience store on University Drive.

Nathaniel Epps told police the suspect jumped into the car and drove off. Shawn was in the back seat.

Epps feared the thief might toss Shawn out of the vehicle. Instead, an anonymous tip was phoned into police a short while later, telling them where to find the car and child.

The car was found on Swan Street, near Duke University Road.

Police have only a vague description to work from as they hunt for a suspect; he was wearing a hood and sunglasses.
