WILSON — Plans to bring casino gambling into Wilson County are still in the works, despite a lack of support from state leaders.
Robert Etheridge wants to give 300 acres of land to Tuscarora and Rosebud Sioux native Americans so they can build a casino. The three parties met Thursday to discuss plans for the site.
Federal law allows recognized tribes to open casinos on tribal land. State leaders say the deal will likely fall apart since Tuscaroras are not federally recognized.
