Plans Forging Ahead for Wilson Casino

WILSON — Plans to bring casino gambling into WilsonCounty are still in the works, despite a lack of support from stateleaders.

Robert Etheridge wants to give 300 acres of land to Tuscarora andRosebud Sioux native Americans so they can build a casino. The threeparties met Thursday to discuss plans for the site.

Federal law allows recognized tribes to open casinos on tribal land.State leaders say the deal will likely fall apart since Tuscaroras are notfederally recognized.
