Hockey Arena Decision Stalled Again

RALEIGH — Yet another meeting was held Monday fordiscussion on the proposed entertainment and sports arena in Raleigh. Citycouncil members met with the intention ofcoming to a final decision on what to build and how to finance it.

Again, no final decision has been reached.

Councilman Kieran Shanahan offered a new proposal that he says wouldsave taxpayers $34 million in interest payments. Council member Julie Graw says this latest move could kill the proposal to build an arenaaltogether.

The council decided to review the new proposal and consider the issueagain in two weeks.
