— Last week, vandals targeted more than 60 cars in Chapel Hill. A week later, police report a rash of car break-ins at University parking lot.

Sometime late Saturday or early Sunday, police say, 11 cars in the "PR" parking lot at Airport Road and Estes Drive were broken into. The lot is used by both UNC students and employees. The primary targets were CD players and stereo cassette players.

Last week, more than 60 cars had their tires slashed or paint scratched by keys in several Chapel Hill neighborhoods.

Police had said they planned to step up patrols after last week's vandalism spree.
