School Children Greet Air Force One

MORRISVILLE — When President Clinton's plane toucheddown at RDU International Airport, there were plenty of school children onhand to make him feel welcome. It was an appropriate welcome, consideringthat they were the subject of his speech to North Carolina lawmakers.

The dozens of students came from Greensboro and from Davis DriveElementary in Apex.

For some, such as Shannon Farrar of Davis Drive Elementary, it was thehandshake of a lifetime.

There was also a contingent of local military personnel on hand towelcome the president. Many came with cameras in hand to snap a shot ofthe Commander-in-Chief.
