Fire Hits an Elm City Business

Posted March 7, 1997 12:00 a.m. EST

— Firefighters were called out just before dawn Friday to combat a blaze at Cox Auto Salvage, located several miles east of Elm City.

Officials said the fire began at the back of the building, and soon spread heavy smoke over the area.

The fire was reported under control, but back up firefighters from the surrounding counties had to be called out. No one was injured.

The business, an auto parts and salvage firm, is on East Langley Road.
