CHAPEL HILL — A fire at the Kingswood apartment complexon Highway 54 in Chapel Hill early Saturday morning left dozens of peoplehomeless.

The fire started on the first and second floors of a building in theapartment complex and took several fire departments to put it out.

No one was injured in the blaze. Residents said someone in the buildingwent door to door to make sure everyone was evacuated. Although residentsof the complex escaped unhurt, the fire did have them thinking about thedeadly rash of home fires that has hit the Triangle this week.

"My heart just went up into my throat. I just thought about all those people who died in all those fires and here it was happening in myneighborhood," said Kingswood resident Jennifer Klenzak.
