Brief Storm Leaves Damage in Triangle

RALEIGH — The line of thunderstorms that moved swiftlythrough the Triangle Friday night didn't last long, but left some lastingdamage in its wake.

Wind gusts topped 60 mph, causing some trees to snap knocking downpower lines and crashing into homes and cars. At the height of the storm,nearly 8,500 people were without power, but CP&L officials say nearlyall power was restored by 3 a.m.

No injuries have yet been reported in this area.
