<b>SANFORD</b> — The trial of Donald Abercrombie began Mondayin Lee County, even though police have never found the bodies of hisalleged victims.

Abercrombie is accused of killing 79-year-old Hoyle Smith and66-year-old Helen Boone in late 1995.

Abercrombie is already in jail after pleading guilty to severalcharges following a 17-hour standoff in Fayetteville.

According to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, a school resource officer discovered the body of a man inside a vehicle at Hobbton Middle School athletic field. Authorities believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
