WAKE FOREST — A construction worker was killed Mondayin a freak accident at a construction site in northern Wake County.
Part of a crane broke causing the huge arm of the crane to crash into ahouse which was under construction.
Sean Jones of Siler City was working on the home when the crane armfell. Police say the crane's arm was almost fully extended when itsanchoring structure broke loose, causing it to losebalance and collapse onto the house.
The home is owned by Tom and Patricia Fitzgerald. Mrs. Fitzgerald andthe couple's two daughters were inside thehouse when the accident happened. They were badly frightened, but notinjured.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating theaccident.
