FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayetteville woman is in stablecondition at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, recovering from anunusual gunshot wound. Police say Ruth Stump was hit in the hip by abullet when someone fired shots at the van she was traveling in.
One of the bullets ripped through the van, hitting her as she sat inthe back seat. The driver stopped at a supermarket about a mile fromthe crime scene and called for help.
Police are investigating the incident.
