Santa Delivers Joy Through The Postal Service

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — By the looks of things, Santa didn't quite finish up last night. There are plenty of presents that haven't been delivered yet, and it's already Christmas morning.
That just won't do for one of Santa's helpers, Jim Nieuwenhuis. He hits the road to finish up unfinished business. And, boy, does he surprise some folks in Fayetteville.
Lynn Castro had given up hope that a package from her husband would arrive in time for Christmas. It did, and what a delivery.
Nieuwenhuis said that reactions like Castro's are the reason he does it.
One house after another, Santa's helper hits a home run. He has two boxes for the Trammells, all the way from Hawaii.
Nieuwenhuis is among about a dozen postal carriers working Christmas in the Fayetteville area. There are so many packages, they'll put in a full day, and then some.
He doesn't mind, though.
After all, it's not every day you can play Santa Claus, and bring a little joy into people's homes just by doing your job. Reported byRick Gall.
