Lawsuit Charges Walmart With Discrimination

RALEIGH — A Wake County woman is bringing a lawsuitagainst Walmart charging the retail outlet with racial discrimination.

Felicia Gray-Watson says her supervisors used racially offensivelanguage during a conversation with her on November 13, 1996. She says hermanager repeatedly used the word 'slave' and implied that that was herrole within the company.

Walmart says it does not tolerate this type of behavior, and that anextensive investigation of this incident led to the firing of thesupervisor in question. Other disciplinary action was taken with otheremployees involved.

Walmart says it feels it has acted properly. The company will, however, have to go to court to answer the charges made in the lawsuit
