RALEIGH — State prison officials say North Carolina's sex offender registration is off to a good start.
But there's still room for improvement.
Officials say when the General Assembly meets in January, lawmakers will fine-tune a law requiring anyone convicted of a sex crime to register with his local sheriff.
Only about 12 percent of the sex offenders released from state custody this year havenotregistered.
