Fundraiser Helps Heat Homes

— Some Southeast Raleigh families will be warmer this winter thanks to a joint fundraising effort.

Nearly 100,000 homes in Raleigh have inadequate heat or no heat at all. So the "Heat for Homes" roadrace has raised $32,000 to turn up the temperature in those homes.

Phyllis Hinton became the first of 35 people to receive new heaters Wednesday.

The program is a collaborative effort between the City of Raleigh, Wake Opportunities and Rex Hospital.
