Moonshine Drying Up

SMITHFIELD — It seems moonshine operations are endangered in North Carolina. Over the weekend, ALE agents seized more than $33,000 worth of moonshine, mash and equipment in Johnston and Harnett Counties.
One of the first raids took place in Benson last October. It's all part of an ongoing effort to dry up the production of illegal liquor.
In the latest bust, agents destroyed seven stills and hundreds of gallons of moonshine.
