Holiday Cheer Abounds at Raleigh Capitol

RALEIGH — The Capitol was the place to be Tuesdaynight for holiday spirit Raleigh-style. It was a night of Christmastradition at the State Capitol.

The festivities began at 5:30 with the sounds of theMillbrook High School chorus, followed by the Raleigh Concert Band.

Then, at about 6:30, Governor Jim Hunt lit the official Christmas tree,which he jokingly said was much nicer than the one at the nationalCapitol.

Hunt also joked that he wanted to be re-elected just so he could lightthe tree four more times.
