Dunn Police Seek Killer

Posted November 25, 1996 12:00 a.m. EST

— Police in Dunn are looking for the person who killed 90-year-old Ruby Ryals. Ryals was found dead in her North Ellis Avenue home Friday evening.

Police believe an attacker suffocated Ryals with a pillow before taking her wallet and some jewelry. They have made no arrest and are still looking for clues. Ryals' son found his mother Friday night.

Neighbor Katherine Covell told WRAL TV5's Bret Baier that Ryals was popular in the community.

Wayne Lee, who owns a nearby service station, says he is concerned about the neighborhood.

Dunn police are looking for help from the community in order to solve this crime. They're asking anyone who has any information on Ryals' death to call Crimestoppers at 910-892-2222, or the Dunn Police Department at 910-892-2399.

This is the second murder this year in Dunn.
