CHAPEL HILL — An effort got underway Friday in Chapel Hill to legalize marijuana for medicinal use.
Backers of Marijuana Reform contend that marijuana prohibition has failed, and that the drug should be legally obtainable for people suffering from painful illnesses. Voters in California and Arizona have just approved marijuana legalization laws for those states.
Advocate Jon Wexler says the drug provides a great deal of relief for some patients.
Eight people across the country, including a Raleigh man, currently receive monthly supplies of medicinal marijuana.
