Some in Chapel Hill Want Legal Medicinal Marijuana

CHAPEL HILL — An effort got underway Friday in ChapelHill to legalize marijuana for medicinal use.

Backers of Marijuana Reform contend that marijuana prohibition hasfailed, and that the drug should be legally obtainable for peoplesuffering from painful illnesses. Voters in California and Arizona havejust approved marijuana legalization laws for those states.

Advocate Jon Wexler says the drug provides a great deal of relief forsome patients.

Eight people across the country, including a Raleigh man, currentlyreceive monthly supplies of medicinal marijuana.
