ZEBULON — A high-speed chase began around noon Fridayin Zebulon. By the time it was over, vehicles representing six differentlaw enforcement agencies had chased the suspect through parts of Wake andJohnston Counties.
It started when Zebulon police tried to stop a suspect who was wantedon drug charges. The suspects car, carrying three people, sped off, withthe officer in pursuit.
The chase reached speeds exceeding 100 mph at times, and in Knightdale,the Police chief was forced off the road by the suspect's vehicle. Thesuspect finally crashed in Northern Johnston County. The suspect then fledon foot into a wooded area where police followed.
All three people in the suspect's car face charges of assaulting anofficer along with several other charges.
