CARRBORO — A silent Jesse Helms heckler made a statement by placing derogatory posters in bus stops in Carrboro and Chapel Hill.
The posters, officials say, are not easy to get rid of. Removal, they say will cost taxpayers up to $800 just in Carrboro.
Similar posters were found in Charlotte.
Police say they are close to catching up with the person responsible for placing the signs illegally on public property.
