HILLSBOROUGH — A dispute over cigarettesapparently led a Hillsborough teenager to take the life of an18-year-old friend, police say.

Hillsborough police charged 16-year-old Robert Earl Sorrell on Thursday in connection with thedeath of Herbert Calvin Keeter III, 18, of 317 West Hill Ave.

Keeter's body was found at 4 a.m. Thursday in a wooded picnic areabehind a McDonald's restaurant. Police and rescue personnel were notified and arrived to find the body lying face down on the ground.

Police say Keeter had been stabbed severaltimes in the neck and still had his wallet and valuables. For that reason, they ruled outrobbery as a motive early in their investigation.
