RALEIGH — For the first time since 1968, North Carolina has a newly styled drivers license. The new license looks much like a credit card, and it is being issued now.
The new look includes a hologram, a digitized picture of the driver and a two-dimensional bar code. Darren O'Neil Knasick was one of the first people to receive the new license, and he says he likes it.

Temporarily, the DMV office off of Blue Ridge Road is the only place in the state issuing new licenses. That's where the bugs are being worked out of the system. Officials say the new cards will be very helpful in preventing forgeries of licenses.
