FAYETTEVILLE — An 18-month-old Cumberland County boyis in a coma at Duke University Medical Center with massive head andtorso injuries.
The child's mother and her boyfriend are in jail under $25,000 bond,charged with childabuse.
Cumberland County sheriff's deputies say Tamara Melvin and StevenFranklin severely beat the boy. The sheriff's department found out aboutthe incident Wednesday.
