Fort Bragg Soldier Suspected Of Assaulting Girl

Posted Updated

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier already in jail for raping an elderly woman is now suspected of assaulting a young girl.

Last month, Fayetteville police say someone abducted an 8-year-old girl from the street while she waited at the bus stop. Witnesses say they saw a 1988 Black Chevrolet Beretta in the area that morning.

Police say that matches the description of the car owned by Sgt. Michael David Reed, a member of the 1st Corps Support Command on Fort Bragg. A post spokesperson says Reed was caught raping an elderly woman on Fort Bragg last week when he was interrupted by a relative.

Reed is now in custody at Camp Lejeune. He has not been charged with the abduction of the 8-year-old girl last month. Fort Bragg police have now taken over the investigation.
