Posted Updated

DURHAM — There is new information regarding Durham's small business loan scandal.

The Durham Herald-Sun reports that the city will pay $21,000 to former city administrator Kendall Abernathy. In exchange, Abernathy promises not to sue the city.

E-mail records reveal Abernathy was warned by a Raleigh city worker about Anita Bennett, the woman later hired to run Durham's loan program.

Under Bennett's watch many loans were not properly repaid.
