N.C. State Highway Patrol Wins Award

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The men and women who patrol our highways were honored for something a bit unusual Wednesday -- their uniforms.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol was named the best dressed law enforcement agency in the country. But of course it is not the uniform that makes the officer, but the pride of the officer that makes the uniform.

"It is more important than ever for our citizens to see a strong showing of law enforcement uniformed personnel in this country. We've got some tough times. We have some tough times ahead. We thank you for what you do for our state and nation," C.W. Oliver of Raeford Industries said.

The award has been presented 24 times. North Carolina's Highway patrol has won one other time -- back in 1989.
