RALEIGH — The
Wake County School Board
has voted to bring more portable classrooms to Durant Road Middle School.
The school is already overcrowded and parents of children in year-round elementary schools worry there is not enough room for students in the sixth grade.
A previous plan to convert Stough and Carroll schools to year-round would have provided more seats, but that plan is off the table.
This vote gives Durant Middle short-term space with short-term planning.
Jones Dairy Elementary and the not-yet built Heritage Middle School will open as year-round schools after next year.
