One Dead After Hog Truck Flips Onto Car

Posted September 10, 2001 6:37 a.m. EDT

— One person died after a tractor trailer carrying hogs jackknifed and flipped onto a car Sunday night.

The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 just outside the Sedalia city limits.

One of the hog truck's trailers flipped onto a car, killing one person, state troopers said. A second car was involved, but the driver had minor injuries.

Witnesses said some of the 160 hogs on the tractor-trailer were still squealing and hanging from the wreckage an hour after the wreck.

The southbound lanes of the highway were still closed by 10 p.m. and weren't expected to open for several hours.
