ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police say they have caught a man who dressed as a woman during a bank robbery earlier this week.

Rocky Mount police said a man wearing earrings and makeup robbed a bank on Raleigh Road Monday afternoon.

The man, who was carrying a large purse and wearing women's clothing along with a black hat, allegedly passed an RBC Centura teller a note demanding money. Several people were in the bank at the time.

On Wednesday, police arrested and charged Dwane Richardson, 24, who is homeless in Rocky Mount, in connection with the robbery, police said.

Richardson was arrested at Hal Oars Motel in Rocky Mount, police said.

Police said the suspect never showed a weapon during the robbery, but mentioned one in his note.
