HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Holly Springs police have identified two suspects in connection with the death of an 18-year-old killed Sunday outside his home.

George Damel Young, 23, and James Anthony Batiste, 20, are wanted for questioning in the drive-by shooting that occurred at 210 W. Holly Springs Road.

Douglas Jamal Mangum died Sunday night at WakeMed in Raleigh.

No warrants have yet been issued, but Holly Springs police are asking for the public's help in locating the suspects. A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest, authorities said.

Police said they do not believe the shooting was a random act and said there could be other people involved in the shooting.

Holly Springs police were called to Mangum's home shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. They found him on the living room floor.

People inside the house told officers they had heard gunshots while Mangum was outside for a short time. He re-entered the house, said he had been shot, and collapsed.

Witnesses said they saw a large, black sport utility vehicle leaving the scene with two men inside.

Mangum had been a student at Middle Creek High School. His death was the first homicide in Holly Springs since 1995.
