DURHAM — Both southbound lanes of Interstate 85 are now open to traffic. Drivers were detoured after a tractor-trailer overturned, spilling its contents along the road overnight.
Officials say the tractor-trailer, which was carrying paper products crashed and overturned, spilling part of its load near the Guess Road exit around 2:30 a.m.
Both southbound lanes of I-85 were closed from Duke Street to Guess Road until 8:30 a.m.
Officials say the truck driver was not seriously injured, but was transported to a hospital. They say the driver either fell asleep or hit a deer.
