Gas Line Break Closes MLK Parkway In Durham

DURHAM, N.C. — Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Durham was closed for part of Friday afternoon after crews working in the area broke a gas line.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. when a crew doing underground boring work hit a 4-inch gas main.

By 2:45 p.m. workers began repairs on the break.

MLK was closed near Dixon Street

, which might stay closed for the rest of the afternoon.

Officials said that no one was without gas service and there were no evacuations.
