Wakefield High Student Arrested After Alleged Gun Incident

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A student at Wakefield High School is learning about the legal system, from jail.

Police arrested 18-year-old James Alston Jr. He's accused of pointing a gun at two teenagers on an elementary school's basketball court.

Alston's in jail on $120,000 bond. The school system won't comment on the disciplinary status of a student. However, one of the possible punishments for having a gun on school property is a one-year suspension.
