DURHAM, N.C. — The driver of a DATA bus was injured Tuesday afternoon when a train hit his bus in Durham.
Authorities said the driver of the bus, which had sitting partially on the train tracks at
Pettigrew and Driver streets
waiting for traffic to move, tried to move forward when the railroad arms started to come down around 2:40 p.m. The back of the bus was struck by the front of a westbound Norfolk & Southern train.
No passengers were on board when the incident happened. The driver of the bus suffered minor injuries. No one was injured on the train.
Authorities said that traffic will be blocked at that intersection as the wreckage is removed from the scene.
