Durham Police Investigate Homicide At Car Dealership

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a homicide at a car dealership Friday morning.

Police said that a man arrived at Growing Motors at

4416 North Roxboro Road

Friday morning around 9:30.

When he arrived he found 77-year-old James Morris, of Mebane, inside an office at the business.

Police said that Morris was last seen alive at his business around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

"Right now it's still preliminary," said Durham police spokeswoman Kammie Michael. "Part of the investigation is trying to determine motive, cause of death and everything. It is definitely a homicide."

According to the car lot sign, Growing Motors has been in business at this location since 1983, selling late model used cars and small utility buildings.

Police are looking for a white, 2-door 1990 Oldsmobile Toronado with burgundy leather interior and possible dealer plates that may may have one of the following North Carolina license plates on it:

ID016052, ID016054 or ID016055

. The car is missing from the business, police said.
