Durham May Build Dog Park

Posted Updated

DURHAM — Durham may be going to the dogs.

The Parks and Recreation department hopes to open the city's first dog park at Piney Wood Park.

City leaders will meet with neighbors next week to talk about the plan. The pooch park would cost the city about $50,000 and would sit on about 3 acres.

The department would like to get the project going as soon as possible, but there is no word yet on an opening date.
