RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County deputies arrested and charged a teenager on Monday who they say tried to burn down his own house last Wednesday morning.

Sean Brooks, 16, is charged with first-degree arson in connection with a fire that destroyed nearly everything inside his Wendell home at

7008 Corfu Place

.

At the time, Brooks' stepfather, mother and baby brother were all inside. No one inside the house was injured, but a firefighter for the Wendell Fire Department was slightly injured while fighting the fire.

Brooks is being held at the Wake County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Brook's stepfather, James Clegg, said over the weekend, and again on Monday, that the fire was set by members of a local gang.
