Deputy Running For Person County Sheriff Out Of Job

PERSON COUNTY, N.C. — In Person County, a candidate who ran for sheriff and lost is now looking for work.
Deputy Charles Bowes was fired by Sheriff Dennis Oakley. Bowes lost in the Republican primary race for sheriff on Tuesday.
Oakley will retire at the end of the year after 16 years as sheriff.
Oakley did not say why he fired Bowes.
