WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A local non-profit is closing its doors after more than a decade of promoting healthy pregnancies.
"Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Wake County" has served nearly 400 mothers. The coalition plans to close at the end of next month.
Things started going downhill for the organization after the executive director died last June. Laura Oberkercher wrote the grants and handled most of the operations. When she died, board members couldn't manage the money, and most of them left their positions.
