RDU INTERNATIONAL — Many Midway passengers who arrived at RDU International Tuesday morning were surprised to learn their flights were cancelled.
Passengers say they were caught off guard.
"I'm scared, because my son-in-law and the kids are going to pick me up in San Jose. I've been looking forward to this all year," says passenger Dorothy Bruderer.
Jim Cavanaugh and his family were eagerly awaiting a trip from Durham to Providence for a reunion. But when they got to the airport, they had to turn back home. They learned at the last minute that their flight time had been changed.
"This is an opportunity to see our family, and we only have a few days, so every minute is an important minute, and we missed out on a few of those this time," he says.
Another passenger says "It's disappointing. Midway has been very convenient for us to go to Boston and San Jose."
The airline cancelled about 30 flights early Tuesday, and more cancellations are expected in the evening.
At one point , passengers were lined up outside Terminal C as employees scrambled to rebook flights.
