Former Golden Girl Makes Raleigh Appearance

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — You may know her as Dorothy or Maude, but there is more to former golden girl Bea Arthur than a life in TV Land.

Arthur has entertained audiences on stage and on television for 55 years. She is in Raleigh this week performing her one-woman stage show "And Then There Was Bea" at the Fletcher Theatre.

The show is a collection of songs and stories Arthur has saved up over the years. Even after more than five decades in the business, she still loves to get out on the stage and perform before an audience.

"I think the most important thing to do is to get out there on stage and perform in front of an audience every chance you get," she says. "Whether it's good or bad or whatever, do it, get out there and then you'll find out."

"And Then There Was Bea" is playing at the Fletcher Theatre through Sunday afternoon.
