Oxford Reaches Settlement In Sewage Dispute

Posted Updated

OXFORD, N.C. — The City of Oxford has reached an out-of-court settlement with environmentalists and the state over sewage discharges.

The settlement comes as Oxford completes a $10 million upgrade of its treatment plant. The city hopes the upgrade will end sewage spills into Fishing Creek.

The settlement requires the city of Oxford to enforce tougher monitoring and pay for restoration of Fishing Creek.
