Pedestrian Hit, Killed While Crossing Raleigh Roadway

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 72-year-old Raleigh woman was killed early Wednesday night as she was crossing the street.

Authorities say Mahasen Moselhy Ahmed Shalaby died when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Avent Ferry Road near Centennial Boulevard.

Shalaby and her husband had been crossing Avent Ferry Road at about 6 p.m. when she stepped out in front of the vehicle, police said.

The driver, Brandon Dale Norris, was traveling below the speed limit, authorities said. No charges were expected to be filed.
