WENDELL, N.C. — The Wake County town of Wendell will lose 260 jobs, Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution has announced.
The maker of electrical products is moving 43 percent of its staff from its Wendell plant to Mexico. Employees learned of the move through a letter Wednesday.
The facility will lose 180 Siemens employees and 80 contractor positions. The company is offering those workers a chance to apply for other positions within the company, including a new facility in New Kensington, Pa.
It will also offer severance pay and benefits continuation and outplacement services.
