$150-Million Venture Capital Fund To Be Based in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A new venture capital fund is seeking to raise $150 million and will be based in Winston-Salem.

On the firm's web site,

MetaCapita Venture Partners

said it has already put together a management team that includes Bradford Walters, a partner in Research Triangle-based Academy Funds.

Walters and Ron Finlayson will manage the Winston-Salem office, according to the Triad Business Journal. Finlayson has been involved with Zero Stage Capital, Schooner Investments and Saturn Asset Management.

MetaCapita translate as "about the head", according to the company.

"While innovative technology is a key element of any new venture, we also carefully consider the people - the key players, their preparedness for success, and how we can help," MetaCapita said on its web site. "Venture investment and development is a team sport."

MetaCapita's fund is called First Response Fund.

The firm will also have offices in Washington DC and Boston.
